Summer Activities at the Library

Hey, it sounds like we're going to have some great summer activities this year, including an origami workshop (build neat boxes and other modular constructions from simple folded paper shapes), yarn bug making craft (create your own cute-as-a-bug yarn critter), "game visors" (create your own personalized sun visor) and a "Marley and Me" event (doggy activity to accompany the "One Book, One Waco summer book selection.

All these activities look like they'll be really cool, so stay tuned for more info and event dates/times in the near future.

Game Day

Teen Game Day yesterday was fantastic! If you were there - thanks for making it a great day. If you weren't, you missed some real FUN.

I think I must have danced 20 rounds of DDR... it was wild and crazy. Far and away the favorite game for the whole afternoon.

SuperSmash Brothers Brawl on the Wii was also incredibly popular - I actually played a round, but sadly Pikachu was not a winner with me at the controls... are you surprised?

We had over 25 people in attendance - and remember, we'll be doing this again in the summer:

On Thursday Nights in June and July we'll have SuperSmash Melee Tournament for TEENS ONLY, and in July on Saturdays I'll be running open game sessions mostly for you teens, but you can bring your parents or kid siblings along, too.

Spring Break Gaming and Comics Alert

Hey, don't forget this upcoming Wednesday from 2-6 at Central Library we'll be doing DDR, Supersmash Brothers, Wii Sports and more...

Come in and play away the Spring Break doldrums.

Or if you can't make it to the library, try some of these Webcomics -

Order of the Stick: all about what life would REALLY be like if you were a DnD character.

Dominic Deegan, Oracle for Hire: Dominic's the best seer in town, and this sometimes (frequently?) leads to difficulty...

and not lastly, the best library webcomic around:
Unshelved - follows the life of ultra-lazy YA Librarian and slacker Dewey, at the Mallville Library.

Have a great break!
