So there's no excuse for not getting a good score! Remember, we also have "Learnatest" in our Research Databases section of the Library website - which has practice tests for LOTS of areas - SAT, GED, TOEFL, ASVAB, real estate, fire, paramedic, police, and more, more, more. Classic Book Review
I don't know if I've mentioned this book in the past, but it is one of my favorites
"The Outsiders" by S. E. Hinton. If you have not read the tale of Ponyboy Curtis, his brothers Soda, and Darry, and Johnny, Ponyboy's best friend, you should.
They're poor "Greasers" in a bad neighborhood, getting chased and harassed by the "Socs" - the elite school crowd. Mostly, they get along, and try to keep themselves together, and everything is going okay, until the day Johnny uses his switchblade on a Soc in a fight.
Ponyboy and Johnny panic, realizing that they've gone one step beyond what they can handle, and they run away. The rest of the novel deals with Ponyboy's attempts to understand and deal with the results of being part of Johnny's fatal action.
It's an exciting story, very real and strong. It has a very likeable main character, and the action is exciting. S. E. Hinton was only 16 when she wrote this story, and she knows about the life she's telling; you will too, when you've read it.
