Dragon fiction

I love dragons. I love stories about them, whether they're good or evil. So today I thought I'd share a list of my favorite stories that involve these magical beasts.

Slathbog's Gold by M. L. Forman - Alex sees an odd sign in a shop window; little does he know when he goes inside to investigate that he will soon be on a quest to defeat an evil dragon!
The Dragon of Trelian by Michelle Knudsen - a mage's apprentice, a princess, and a dragon combine their strengths and magic to bring downa traitor and restore peace to the kingdom of Trelian.
The Pit Dragon chronicles by Jane Yolen - Jakkin steals a hatchling dragon and tries to raise it to fight in the arena, hoping to win enough money to win his freedom. But will they win freedom or destroy their world?
The Adventures of Young Det (vol 1) by Gyojeong Kwon - two adventure-loving boys from the country set out on a quest to defeat an evil dragon that threatens to destroy their world. The first volume tells of the prophecy they will fulfill.
Dragonhaven by Robin McKinley - everyone knows that dragons are a rare endangered species, but that they're not intelligent. But when Jake goes on his first solo overnight in Smokehill Park, the baby dragon he finds sets all his expectations awry.
The Hero and the Crown - Princess Aerin struggles to prove that she has a right to her birth position by slaying dragons, until she meets a monster she cannot easily conquer.
Dragonback Series by Timothy Zahn - Jack Morgan is an orphan, dependent only on his "uncle" until he accidentally becomes the sybiotic companion of the dragon warrior Draycos, and sets out on a journey to rescue the K'da from genocide, and find his parents' killers.
Dragonsong and Dragonsinger by Anne McCaffrey - Menolly hates her life in Half-Circle Seahold, and strives to win her freedom even as she discovers Firelizards, in this pair of novels.
The Prophecy by Hilari Bell - Guided by the words of a prophecy, Prince Peryyndon, who loves books more than swords, sets out to slay the dragon that is destroying his kingdom.
The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien - the classic tale of a small and simple hobbit who goes on a quest to steal a dragon's treasure, and what happens because of it.
