Into the Wild Nerd Yonder by Julie Halpern. I started reading this at dinner a couple days ago, and was soon convulsed in laughter. Jessie, an ordinary (or at least she thinks she is) high-school soon-to-be-sophomore, is saddened when her two best friends "go punk" and abandon her. Worse, Bizza makes a play for Van, the older boy Jess has crushed on for the past two years. Instead, Jessie turns to the really nerdy kids at school, including the DnD - players! Will she ever survive being branded a true nerd? The depiction of high-school life is spot on, hilarious and realistic at the same time.
So join Jessie in a descent into utter nerdity, and see if she can survive. You won't regret it.
