Amazon has just published their first "Essential Reading for Young Adults" List.
Have you read any of these books? Which ones? Did you like them? Do any of them sound like something you'd love to read?
I've read several of them - The Giver by Lois Lowry is one of my all-time favorite dystopian fiction titles. It doesn't have quite the action-adventure potential of the Hunger Games, but I think the "there's something really wrong here" factor is really high.
Others I really liked include The Golden Compass, 13 Reasons Why (soon to be a movie!), and Speak - one of the scariest stories I've ever read.
